Piotta
info: In the true Italian tradition of plasticized pilfered pop music, Piotta was more of an all-around American Pop Star (APS) than a smashrays purist, but one cannot ignore the phenomenal 1996 hit "Supercafone". True to the genre's form, the song centres around a perfectly playfully guitar sample and midtempo drums with the catchy as a cold chorus soaring overtop. Ignorance of the romantic language does nothing to tamp down the absolute pleasure of singing along to such a sunny Mediterranean take on the beach-riffed California madness. However, if you go deep in the Piotta discography, you'll find everything from annoying Italo-Eminem, proto-Bruno Mars SOLAR records tributes, and just plain old fashioned grasping at flow. Despite all this, Supercafone remains a top smashray.
